Due Mari Beach

Spiaggia dei Due Mari, the "beach of the two seas", is Portopalo's beach, at the southernmost point of Sicily. Just off the shore lies a small island, the island of Capo Passero, with its little castle: this is where the boats come to stop, and one look at the water tells you why. The sea here is incredible, as clear as it gets.

The beach

It's one of the few places in the area where you have everything close at hand: showers, restaurants right nearby and a playground for children. Perfect if you want to spend the day by the sea without having to plan much, even with little ones.

Our tip

Look for the small statue of the Madonna on its little tower: it's very beautiful, and it symbolically marks the line between the two seas, the Ionian and the Mediterranean, which give the beach its name.
