Isola delle Correnti Beach
📍 15 km · Portopalo di Capo Passero

At Isola delle Correnti, Sicily comes to an end: it's the island's southernmost tip, even further south than Tunis. Just off the beach lies a small islet with its lighthouse, and all around it something rare happens: two seas, the Ionian and the Mediterranean, meet right before your eyes. It's about 15 km from Marzamemi.
How to get there
Drive through Pachino and then Portopalo, following the signs for Isola delle Correnti. The last stretch is a dirt road leading to a large car park a few steps from the beach, which costs €5.
The beach
Fine sand, and you can choose: there's a free public beach and there are beach clubs (lidi) if you'd rather have a sunbed and umbrella. In summer the sea is suitable for children too. The wind blows here often, but in summer it's pleasant. When the sea is calm you can reach the islet on foot or with a few strokes. On the point, a statue of Christ the Redeemer looks out towards the lighthouse.
Our tip
Stay until sunset: it's the best moment to watch the two seas meet.
